What is Diligence?

Have you ever watched the movie “Mulan”? Well The movie takes place in ancient China, where there is a war going on between China and the Huns, and her father who was weak and sick, was called to war, so Mulan decides to go in his place to war because she didn’t want to lose him! And so with a dragon and a cricket she goes to What we would call Boot Camp all dressed in armor and hair cut short and armed. And as she is trained she does her best to try to act like a guy and do what is needed to help the army. And as we all know she succeeds first in one of the challenges, which is Get the arrow on to of this tall pole using Weights that are on leather bands and no latter or things like that!

So what Mulan did was she was ever so Diligent in doing her best and succeeding in anything that was placed before her as she was being trained. And Diligence is trying without giving up even if it feels like there is no end, because there is always an end to everything, and being Diligent in doing that and the saying, “diligence-do your duty to the best of your ability.” Greatness is abounding in all of us. When we put our trust in God we are more willing to be diligent in keeping his commandments and following the example of Christ and showing trust in God that he will help you in your Diligence.

Diligence is the opposite of slothfulness, and why is that important in following Christ? Because when we are diligently Following Christ and we are doing what we belive what he would do. Because when we do that we feel the spirit when we do so. And in the scriptures it talks of this diligence in seeking God. Hebrews 11:6” But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Weeds and Flowers

I am not a great gardener, I don’t have a green thumb like my Mother, and I Get tired of pulling weeds when I am not in the mood. But I am truly grateful for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for creating this Earth for us with all the beautiful Plants and the Awesome things that look wonderful in the world but there is nothing more annoying then weeds! Well Look at a lot of the weeds out there in the world right now, a lot of them look like flowers and stuff and that is annoying and to the great extent that for a novice gardener like myself I just want to rip everything out and not care for any of it (when I do have a garden, and I don’t right now)!

It is such a nice thing to have a garden and to see all the beauty.  But lets look at weeds, they grow easy. They thrive well and they love to entangle you flowers you want to keep and choke them out, which is  frustrating for anyone! But let’s think about this for a second.  It is like following God or not, It takes work to be obedient and to repent and it takes work to read the word of God and to go to church. But it is not much work to just sit at a Bar or look at things that are not good and it doesn’t take really any work to be lazy at things and just let anything go!

See similarities are this, The devil, it doesn’t take much to let him in, and let him choke out the good, and he tries to make bad things look like the good things. But with God it takes an effort to continue to repent and to try to do good, and it takes work to keep up a good garden. And The scriptures talk of this, in Deuteronomy 11:16 says “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;” That not only applies to worshiping other gods but with not doing right! So don’t fall for the pretty weeds, tear them out and keep the flowers!

Prayer is like a Awesome new Product!

So… Think on this. if you saw a new Product in stores and people kept on raving on and on about it, and you being the skeptical you thought “I bet it won’t work…” and then people kept on telling you that it does. Then you finally thought to yourself “Okay I will try it, but if it doesn’t work I’ll tell them that they don’t know what they’re talking about!” So you go and try this Product out and come to find out it works, and not only does it work, it makes you feel better about yourself. Well that is how prayer is, you don’t know if it really works and you then tell yourself, “Okay I am going to try to pray like I am talking to someone, and not just try to pray like I am praying to nothing.” Well it will work as long as your sincere in praying and not just praying like it is a joke.

Prayer is a very real thing, and it does make you feel better about yourself and it is something that is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! You know what? Prayer is a pretty cool thing, you wanna know why? Because you don’t need faith the size of a mountain to have it work! And you know why it is so hard to remember how to pray or to just start praying? Well because of the Wicked one who works in the hearts of men to dissuade them to do good is telling you not to, because he doesn’t want you to feel good about yourself or even talk to God.

2 Nephi 32:8-9 “And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye must know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth him that he must not pray. But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; the ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.”

Trials and Persevering with Patience

All of us as human beings have trials in out lives, some are big and some are small, but all of them test us to see if we will do the right things in life! One Monday which is missionaries preparation-day we and ten other missionaries(Elders) went to a cave and went exploring, and me not being in very good shape physically had a hard time in there.

For one there was lots of spots where you had to crawl or squeeze through to continue on, and a spot where you had to do the spread eagle to get across, and man was that hard! But there was one point in the cave where we had to climb up and it was at the last leg of the cave and I was tired, I felt sick and I had to use the restroom, so I started to cry when they told us we had to climb it, and it didn’t look like an easy climb either. So what happened was before I climbed it I got a blessing (which is given by someone holding the priesthood, or the power to act in God’s name) from some of the Elders in the cave with me and that helped a lot, and once I got to a certain point I had to step on an Elders back to get pulled up by another Elder who was a big help for me.

And to apply this to trials and persevering with patience is that through really hard times right when you feel like crying and can’t move on that is when prayer and faith comes in, and you can always be blessed for enduring with patience and never giving up and making it out of that cave with a thankful heart that when you were at the point of almost giving up God helped you through and Christ Lifted and buoyed you up at the darkest hour.

James 1:3“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”

Easter Morning

 Well Easter, what comes to mind when you think of Easter? Do you think of bunnies, and eggs and chicks? Do you think of candy and more candy and presents and easter egg hunts? Or do you think of Christ, do you think of his atonement? Do you think of his pain, death, and resurrection?

Well when I was younger I thought of the candy and the bunnies, and then at church they would remind me what it really is about but as a kid I didn’t care much about it I liked it but I would rather of had candy and stuff, but as I grew older my understanding grew and I grew to appreciate that Easter Morning.

Christ’s atonement is a very important thing, it is something that I love to use, and when I do use his atonement I feel so much better and I feel that weight lifted from me when I know that he has forgiven me when God has forgiven me, I do so love it.

And as for the Atonement my favorite Part is knowing that Christ was resurrected, and that means we too get to be resurrected, and that is an exciting thing.

St. John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that beliveth in me, though he were dead, yet he shall live:”

Many Deceivers. Find the Truth!

In my favorite Disney princess movie, “The Little Mermaid” Ariel wants to go on shore and talk to the humans from where all her neat trinkets come from. Then she sees Eric, and falls in love with him. She then goes to Ursula the sea witch and has Ursula give her legs in exchange for her own voice. As two parts of the song goes:

My dear, sweet child. That’s what I do. It’s what I live for.
To help unfortunate merfolk like yourself.
Poor souls with no one else to turn to.

I admit that in the past I’ve been a nasty
They weren’t kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you’ll find that nowadays
I’ve mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch…

Now it’s happened once or twice
Someone couldn’t pay the price
And I’m afraid I had to rake ’em ‘cross the coals
Yes I’ve had the odd complaint
But on the whole I’ve been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls…

So to tie this into the Gospel we as humans want something better, something that will make us happy. Like Ariel we sometimes get tangled up into something that is not so good, and we’ve paid the price and it made us sad and regretful. But we can avoid the deceptions as much as possible with direction from God and his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, and the tools they have given us to use to avoid things like that so that we don’t pay a price and that we can be happy and live with our family forever, and those tools are Scriptures, Prayer, and Church attendance! So make the right choice and choose God.

Signs in the Road.

We see hundreds of signs in out our life, road signs, signs at school/work, and a lot of them are appealing, and a lot of them are informative. That is like Heavenly Father and Saten; they both have a lot of signs out there for us to follow, or thoughts in our head, or other such things that guide us one direction or the other! Well Christ’s signs are very informitive and good for direction in life while Saten’s are appealing to the eye and misdirectional.

As we go through life, we want to follow the best directions that will help us the most, and it is good to follow the best signs. Sometimes the there are signs you can’t see, or it is very hard to see the signs because of the distraction from the more flashy signs.

So let us follow the clear and directional signs in our life: the good thing and the best things that make us feel good and not bad or guilty or shameful! I love Christ and the Many many signs he gives us. One of them is the Scriptures, and it they give us the direction we need when we need it!

Alma 37:37 “Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good;…”

To Create something or to not, That is the Question!

This blog is for all the women and teenage girls and little girls in the world ( boys can apply this too). Creativity is what lots of people think of as artist/cartoonist and musical talents. But Creativity is more than that, It is a story, it is a journal entry it is the way you dance, it is what you make in your hands, whether it is a toy or a quilt or even a cross-stitching or even a meal. Being creative with your voice or how you exercise, how you play and so forth. There are so many things we can be creative with.

Well we as Females in the world are very much important in this world, and we as women create things everyday, no matter what it may be we all have ideas running through our heads and no one can take that from us, using our brain and inspiration to do things is one thing we as women are good at. If there wasn’t any creativity in this world then it would be a boring place with the same ideas all over the place!

Women, girls all around the world, DO NOT LET ANYONE stop you from being full of ideas and creative, we are seeing more and more things pop up in this world that allows us to just go out and buy it, and that is not wrong but it could be something that is stopping you from creating new things, ideas and so forth. So be happy and if you feel you are not very creative then pray to Heavenly Father to help you develop a talent of  some sort to create things. Because Heavenly Father truly loves you!

We all have the power to create something, we as Women do and so we as women can call upon God to help us create something Great!

Mosiah 10:5 “and I did cause that the women should spin, and toil, and work and work all manner of fine linen, yea, and cloth of every kind… and we did prosper in the land – thus we did have continual peace in the land…”

Your Loved So Much!

There is this Song by Josh Groban who sings “You Are Loved(Don’t give up)” It is such a awesome song, an insperational song that is a feel good one and it is just so great, a companion of mine would play this song when she wanted a pick me up or if she thought I needed it. And we can apply this to our lives with Christ and Heavenly Father because they don’t want us to give up they want us to know we are loved and to press on!

So pray to Heavenly Father read scriptures hang in there and let your light shine and not let the adversary get you down and just know that YOU ARE LOVED by Heavenly Father the Almighty God the one who has created you!

1 Nephi 11:17 “…:I know that he loveth his Children;…” (meaning God Loves his Kids.)

The Blue Print! Part 3

Before we start drawing out this blue print we needed to know what we want for it, the pre planing of the blue print. Something that we know will make it! Something that will be the best part of it, something we know to plan for that will keep the building standing!

Christ was chosen in the pre earth life to be our savior, to be our only way back to heaven! So why is Christ so important, so needed for us to get back to our Father in Heaven? Well For one, when Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden they became subject to both Physical and Spiritual death. Spiritual death is separation from God. Physical is where our body of flesh and body stop living.

So Christ Through his Atonement, or his sacrifice for us enabled us to over come those deaths. His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane was not only for our sins but our sickness and pains and sorrows and so forth. Him dying on the cross was the second part and the last but not the least part of his Atonement is him being resurrected from the dead, where his spirit body and his physical body reunited and he will never die, and with what he did we too will one day overcome physical death and through faith and repentance we can over come that spiritual death.

Alma 7:11-13 “And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions, and temptations of every kind; and this that the work might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities. … that he might blot out their transgressions according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of  his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.”
